Bokken's Tsuba or no tsuba

Bokken Versus The Jo
How much Time have you wasted on your bad bokken session

When!!!
Should you really get the best out of your Bokken using your Tsuba (Hand Guard)

When training with the bokken, you'll find that using the Tsuba, will one increase your saftey of your hand because in all Bokken training there will be accidents, and 90% of all bokken injuries will be the fingers or the hands.

Besides thats why Katanas and bokkens were made with them, even at half speed training being hit with a bokken really does hurt so be careful first and always maintain your safe distance, some people students and sensei's do train with no tsuba, you notice that they put their index finger along the top of the blade,

When you're reading this article about Bokken Tsubas or no Tsubas, dont you think now if you had not read this article you would have missed out on something? Don't you think your knowledge on bokken scabbard would have remained incomplete?

Putting your finger in this position gives your opponent an even greater chance of hitting your finger and even breaking it, not only painful but also lost time in training as there is very little chance of training with it broken, not a wize move in my opinoin, as the bokken tsuba is there to help stop this preventing most injuries to the hand.

Yes you still can get injured with a Tsuba on your bokken but usually not so significant as without a Tsuba, I have taken many a Whack or hit on the Knuckles or digits when training with my students and sensei's but i am very sure that it would have been worse if i had not had a tsuba on my bokken.

Learning to become one with your bokken takes a lot of time and!!!
Most students of the bokken have a problem with the Tsuba (Hand Guard) because of the rubber ring that hold the tsuba in place some deteriate quite Quickly then you will find that the Tsuba moves around and you have to replace it by pulling the rubber ring down and back into place again.
